Hi, ciao a tutti

I had a chat with some friends regarding the need of switching ON permanently the new valve equipments during weeks....to improve the quality of the sound ! Some were in favor of it while others did not agree at all !

I had no opinion since I do not know !

Does some members have an opinion on this approach supposed or useful to improve the sound of valve gears ?

Ciao a tutti, Grazie

Chris

I'm not sure about for weeks, but I'll usually turn on any tube gear first thing when I get in before anything else and will leave it on if we're continuing the next day. If there's a setup day, everything gets turned on and tested and then left on.

Hi,
It's been my experience that "burning in" valve gear is a good idea. It depends on whether it's "starved plate" gear, meaning that it runs on regular 110v/220v or if it needs a separate power supply. Starved plate simply means that the voltage running to the cathode is much less than it would be with a standard valve design. If it is starved plate, switching it on for a while won't do a whole lot, whereas, if it's a proper valve device, it would help. At least let it warm up for an hour or so before using it in a session.
Ciao e buona fortuna

Basically what they said, just make sure to let the tubes warm up for a while before using them,
