Now tell us how the notes are changing in your studio!

Perhaps a simple breakdown about yourself as it applies to your music, would help jump start the discussion about the production/song writing aspect of recording and music in general. You might start off giving us a short description about your studio, and the music that you work with; any info really.

For example; I use Reason/Logic/MPC2000XL, to sample old records, pitch bend them, make them un-recognizable and then chop/slice/tweak/corrode the sound into a loop. I'd say that's changing the notes.

I too use one of these bad boys and I love it for sampling, With a few choice synths, a Technics mk5 and countless hours of digging through vinyl, I change, rearrange ,and derrange the notes! Something about vinyl chops I just cant seem to get away from.
