take note: it says (it)"intelligently raises or lowers the vocal volume, instantly" the implication is that you're too stoopid to know how to do that.

I'm surprised that more people haven't commented on this. I know that there are pages, pages and pages of commentary on Waves ranging from the economic to the political and the sonic, but I really wonder who this is targeted at. I'm guessing those who edit and mix just by looking at the wave form with the monitors muted and who have a tattoo of "Mom" crossed out with "Auto-Tune" written underneath.

I should add that I really don't have any problem with Waves other than the fact they charge way too much for their plugins, in my opinion. I really enjoy their "color" plugins, i.e. the API and UA emulations, but, not the dynamics or eq's. They're moving into Antares territory with the vocal rider, as I see it.

This is for people who can afford a computer but not a Gates Sta-Level. :)

Seriously though, I could see people using it to save time. Much rather do it meself, like, but people will buy it. Ah well.

Congrats Waves!

You've successfully entered the software snake oil sales market!

What a product!

I find this set even more cringe-worthy for some reason

(Although I do use the Waves stuff because I got it for UBER cheap and I can't afford a bunch of outboard gear....) (yet....)

Sweet... now we can all sound like hendrix, or whatever... cuz you know if it wasn't for Eddie Kramer, Hendrix would've sounded like poop... At least that's what Eddie Kramer made it sound like in an interview not too long ago... what a douche bag..
Keep saving bro... an extra benefit of high end outboard gear is the resale value, of which cartoons have very little.. of course the main benefit is the sound man, the sound... and turning knobs is waaaay more gratifying than clicking away.... blah blah..
peace

If there were upgrades, or presets, that actually manually changed the routing and cables in my patchbay for me, for each mix, and also remembered to turn off the power/pre of my U47 out in the live room when I shut down for the night... And it would be nice if it had voice synthesis that beeped and then told the guitarist to shut up after the 100th time he says "don't you guys think the guitars should be louder?"

Actually, maybe a different version of it, called "intern" that handles entire sessions, on its own, with the novice bands, without a single complaint, or sigh, or shaking of its head as forehead meets palm... Hell, my wife would even help pay for "Intern", as it would save her listening to some of my post session rants. (I'm exaggerating of course, for humor's sake-- I actually love working with young bands...)

I'd both endorse AND pay big dollars for that version of Auto-Mix!

HAHAHA!! It's funny because it's true. :)

However the guitarist is wrong because, as we all know, EVERYTHING should be louder than EVERYTHING ELSE!! :D

I've had a chance to work with the CLA, Kramer, Maseratti and JJP plugins from waves as well as the one from toontrack...

Toontrack's plugin blows chunks!!... lol seriously, maybe if you listen to stuff soloed it might sound OK, but you can't possibly expect to just slap one on each channel and be done!... far from it, so thats that..

The waves stuff is different, i see them more like "macros" on a word procesor or spread sheet. Again, you cant expect to slap one on each channel and be done with it, first because these are huge resource hogs... i used them on a first gen Mac Pro Quad 2.66 10Gb RAM and used up about 85% to 90% on about 20 channels at 41.1Khz and second, these plugs just don get along with some stuff.

That being said, these plugs might be just what the doctor ordered for some stuff, JJP drums for kick, snare and toms is really good, also for bass and keys, so is the CLA on drums in general, bass and vocals, kramer for guitars sounds very good, the masserati is very good on acoustic stuff.

Im not sure that these plugs are really worth the high price tag, but they surely are useful.

My 2 cents
