are you guys tidy around the studio? i think i get more than my fair share of flack from the aboves because i leave a lot of cables lying around, food and empty coffee cups.
i always take care of my mics though.
In general, I value cleanliness more than I practice it. But to answer your question, it depends on which studio we're talking about. At the shop, yes, I'm pretty good about it, because other people have to use the studio, too. If I'm showing up to a place to work, I really f'ing hate walking into a mess, so I extend that courtesy to others. Actually, I don't even consider it a "courtesy" - it's more a matter of respecting the people you work with; I consider cleaning up after yourself to be a part of your responsibility as someone using a shared facility. Regarding cables, I'm a live-guy at heart, so having neatly coiled and stored cables is apparently part of my DNA. Having to untangle their rat's nest is even worse IMO than having to throw out their dirty coffee cups. (lest anyone read anything into my mini-rant, everyone around here is really good at taking care of their shit, or at least making sure the intern takes care of it)
In my currently-submerged personal-use basement "studio," (a rather generous use of the word) I'm a lot more lax since it's just me and the spiders down there.
ETA: I also think it's embarrassing to have clients walk in and have the place looking messy.

#1 Get an intern.
#2 Have him/her clean your place after you.
#3 The intern can also be YOU.

Me too... I'm a habitually messy bugger. But I clean up after meself most of the time. What really annoys the snot out of me is when the boss clears up to extinction level whilst I'm working on a project! He really makes a pain in the ass of himself sometimes.
Great guy though. No, really. :)

Work In progress is different than not washing your hobo bag out once a week.

just wanted to know if i was alone. seems like i'm not.
i'm clean to the point of being functional- the roaches only come out AFTER i'm done for the day;-) it's just that threshold seems to be unrealistically high(or low depending on how you look at it)for some of the people here. i've got better things to do than keep the studio is antiseptic 24/7. one person i work with carries around a can of lysol to disinfect every 30 min.
