View Full Version : I know what your thinking...
Ok, so I can imagine what kind of responses might be written. but, just for the fun of it, I wanted to hear what everyone's thoughts on this Behringer A/D/A (http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-ADA8000-Ultragain-Digital-Recorder/dp/B000GEPC44). I got it about 6-7 years ago when I was first starting out, and I needed more channels than my 002 offered to track drums for Demos in college.
I hardly use it now, mainly because I'm not tracking that much at once. But, the place that sold it to me claimed that Behringer was being sued because they copied some other higher quality Converter specs.

The use of the "Evil B-word" solicits all manner of responses from the sublime to the ridiculous. On the one hand famous mixing dude David Pensado has been quoted (in 'Mixmasters' by Maureen Droney) as enthusiastically endorsing the Behringer EX-1 stereo expander and if a top fella like that says it's good, well....
On the other hand, a friend of mine runs big concerts in Tenerife and one time they were anticipating the arrival of some huge artist who normally plays in Vegas. So famous artist's sound crew fax over their requirements. You know; Yamaha grand piano, Ampeg for the bass, enough mics for a flock of backing singers, that sorta thing. But at the bottom of the fax in huge lettering is the statement "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANYTHING BEARING THE NAME 'BEHRINGER' BE TOLERATED!" :D
Anyway I offer this just as a humorous anecdote.

Well it wouldn't be the first time, would it? I mean, they got into some trouble a few years back for plagiarizing the Mackie 8-Buss consoles too. As I understand it they just ponced the design using lower-tolerance components.
But to finally get to your question, I'm sure the B-word A/D/A has a sound of sorts, however I suspect that it excels in other areas like holding a door open, propping up the table's wobbly leg or being the first thing that comes to hand to clobber burglars with. :)
Cheers,
"UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANYTHING BEARING THE NAME 'BEHRINGER' BE TOLERATED!"
I literally laughed out loud at this statement, and oddly enough, it cheered up my day.
thanks
