I just read an article saying that Logic 9.1 is now 64 bit. How does this effect all of us users out here? I should also say for me I haven't updated to 9 yet

kind of a fluff article so i was hoping you guys could fill in the blanks

Not a Logic user here, but i'ver heard reports over at The Womb Forums that it's actually worse.

Here's the Thread: http://thewombforums.com/showthread.php?t=13607

We are still on 9.0.2 running without worry. I do not think there's a reason for the Meth Lab to worry about 64-bit operation right now, so I am not stressing this math. We have one of the first generation 8-core's running the latest OS, and since we only use Logic as a Audio Based Multi-track Sequencer/Workstation and do not really use any virtual instruments [a small amount of plug ins] or relay on this type of processing architecture, it is not important to fret about it.

Adam,
I feel as though I'm in the same boat as the Meth Lab...I feel its unneccesarry in my circumstance to "upgrade" to this. But I am on Logic 8 and was about to buy the software update and now I guess I'm concerned that may screw up my situation. I haven't heard anything really good about this yet, because of lacking infrastructure, like plug-in compatibility etc.

It has made many third party plugins not work for me, and is unstable overall.

I don't understand why exactly, but I can almost totally assure most people, that 64 bit is not yet of any importance.

But hey, someone needed to break in this idea, and be "first". (Apple, with their 64 bit sillyness, no real benefits yet)

thanks albert and everyone elese---there's a general consensus that 64 bit is still a joke untill the infrastructure(hardware, software etc)gets updated...I'm a video guy by trade, and we went through the same thing when we update all of our editing software in all of our suites...and immediately reverted back when nothing worked(or was necessary).
