Hello all. I am looking for a little advice. Recently after a session, my Cad M9 tube mic was left on for approximately 30-40 hours. after realizing this I quickly turned it off, waited for an hour and turned it on and fed it signal. Nothing.... I replaced the tube with a known good one and... still nothing.
In fact i can't see it glow at all... the light on the power supply comes on, but I got nada....no signal.. I talked to CAD and they said I have a couple of choices: 1 send the mic and $150 and they'll either repair or replace the mic ( choice is up to me)... Or send the power supply and $75 and same deal; repair or replace power supply. One caveat.. If I send them the mic and it turns out to be the power supply, I'm still out the $150 plus I then need the power supply repair replace option...
Any thoughts on this? I really love this mic... It has excelled on vox and heavy electric guitar and room miking.
By the way, the folks at CAD were pretty cool since It's way out of warranty. Thanks up front................tomasz

If you can find a local tech with a decent multimeter, have him check to see if there are voltages at the mic connector, the tube socket and at the power supply.(in order to cover my ass- be careful checking voltages, they can kill you or really ruin your day). I don't know that mic, so you might have to have the mic plugged in to the supply in order to test the supply itself. Also check for fuses inside the supply(and maybe even the mic itself). You save yourself a few bucks if you can narrow down the problem. Hope this helps.
