That sounds pretty good! The only thing I don't care for is the snare sound, I prefer a "snappier" sound myself, but thats more a matter of opinion. I definately see no problems with how it sounds as a whole though.

I'd be interesting in knowing what your set-up is, if you care to post what you used after you get some more opinions.

Cheers,
Zach

Thanks Zachg!

I'll definitely post the placement/ gear stuff after a few more replies...
I'm trying to achieve more of a "kit as one instrument" vibe in a new room. I personally feel like I picked up a little too much verb/ room sound, but I also didn't baffle or treat anything, just moved mics and went for it. There's a little boominess that I like in the room, but it may be a little overwhelming. This may be adding to rounding out the snare, instead of it having more snap. And it could be the gear/lack of technique that we'll rip apart soon...

oh and the next one I'll have the drummer vary it up so you can hear more of what's going on...

thanks again,
j

You definately nailed the "kit as an instrument" (hahaha) sound. I didn't notice too much boominess on my system, but my monitors have very little low frequency power. Definately check the sounds in context though too, if they're boomy you might have a mess on your hands.

cheers, (again)
