I've been requested to post some pictures of some of my side projects here at Mercenary. This is a circuit bent Speak & Math. I found the bends at the Make magazine website among others. If anyone has done any bends on one of these I'd love to hear about it.

what does it do now? Stun mode? interesting... I once played through a circuit bent Boss Metal zone, that sounded pretty cool.

BTW your Les Paul Rip line is funny, yet a scarry to think about, haha

Stun Mode is a band made up of Mercenary employees. It is also the maximum setting on our Avocet volume pot.
The Les Paul statement is scary, but 100% true.

I just caught a video of a guy who built some cool circuit bent stuff on "Make" and would like to give it a try. What would you gurus recommend for a first easy-ish project?

There's a ton of projects on this site most of which are pretty easy. Also the Make magazine or Rheed Gazala websites are good starting points. I would recommend a trip to your local salvation army or goodwill thrift store. Find a cheap toy or casio keyboard that you won't care about if it blows up.

The Circuit Bent Speak & Math, Speak & Spell, and Speak & Read are capable of producing infinite amounts of incredibly strange sounds such as bizarre electronic loops, alien voices, harsh noise and robotic chanting. They are excellent sample sources, stable live instruments and excellent sources of inspiration for experimental or electronic music composition.

Trotsky held the ketchup bottle in his hand and dispensed some of the thick sticky red paste into the bend of his plate, before picking a fire, dipping it in the tamato ketchup and plucking it into his mouth, while saying:

See, now this is a robot fuck that I don't want to ban.

Keep these gems coming, robot fuck!
