Plenty to hear at AES, but also plenty to see.

The show was slightly smaller this year than in years past, though the upside of this is that smaller manufacturers were able to receive a bit more attention.

The Mercenary booth was filled with new products, and we shared space with Quested Monitors and Purple Audio.

And the awesome Oahu amplifier in a snazzy acrylic case to show off it's old-school internals.

Josephson Engineering had on display their new (and very black) C715 microphone, which should sound incredible, and seemed to absorb all the surrounding light, causing a rather fuzzy photo...

AEA had a couple new products on display including this, the R840, which is an active version of their venerable R84...

And a limited edition of the R92 which features a new paint job and a more open sound.

More in a minute...

Yep, and the trick up its sleeve is a screw on the back of the grille which is used to infinitely change polar patterns, rather than two separate outputs.

More pictures!

At the Manley booth, there was the new MicMaid microphone/preamp switcher...

Nope. The screw is just a cardioid/omni switch a la old Sony mics.
